Hatchbacks are very common in Europe and the UK, but the same cannot be said for the other side of the Atlantic.Americans buy hot hatches, but not as much as Europeans. If an automaker were to sell both sedans and hatchbacks in America, the former would undoubtedly beat the latter.


The biggest advantage of hatchbacks over sedans is that they offer larger, more accessible cargo space. In general, hatchbacks are more fuel efficient than crossovers of the same size. Hatchbacks are very popular with the younger American demographic who prefer hatchbacks for the reasons mentioned above, but these European models have no plans to set foot on US soil.

Volkswagen doesn’t think it’s a well thought decision to bring the very expensive Polo GTI into the highly price sensitive segment in America. Instead, the German automaker will focus on sedans and SUVs for the American market.

The M140i is the performance model of the second generation BMW 1 Series range, powered by a smooth 3.0 liter straight-six petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology. His M140i with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission allows him to hit 62 mph in 4.6 seconds.
