Jeep runs off Hwy 11, rolls into woodline in Jones Co.

JONES COUNTY, Mississippi (WDAM) – A vehicle collided Monday night on Highway 11 near the Moselle, injuring the driver.

Volunteer fire departments from the Mosel, Southwest, and South Jones were dispatched to the scene around 5:30 p.m., according to Jones County Fire Council spokesperson Dana Bumgardner.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the jeep on the side of the highway.

Bumgardner said one Jeep driver was involved in the incident and suffered what he believed to be minor injuries.

It is believed that the vehicle was heading north on the highway when the driver deviated from the northbound lane when he lost control of the jeep and the vehicle rolled and stopped in a wooded area.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol were also at the scene.

Traffic was slowed for about an hour with only one lane open while firefighters helped drivers from their vehicles, provided emergency medical assistance, and cleared the scene.

EMServ ambulance service transported the driver to the emergency room.
