DUBOIS — After a tough loss at the hands of Evansville Day on Friday, the Wood Memorial men’s basketball team traveled to DuBois to take on the Northeast DuBois Jeep in the Blue Chip Conference contest on Saturday night.
The Trojan got off to a bit of a slow start, but the hosts were able to reap the benefits. A 19-6 Northeast DuBois lead after the first quarter proved too much to overcome as the Jeep eventually took a 67-56 home victory over the Trojans in blue-chip conference play .
Keying the Jeep’s quick start was a balanced attack featuring five different scorers in the first quarter.
The Jeeps edged the Trojans 18-16 in the second quarter and took a 15-point lead (37-22) by the halftime break. Jeep’s Colby his lockard saw him eight minutes into the game and in a game-high he scored 11 of his 19 points.
The Trojans outscored the hosts by four points in the second half, 34-30, and provided a final margin of 11 points.
The Trojan offense didn’t keep up for much of the night, but the team’s highlight was the play of freshman forward Parker Conder. He led the team in scoring with a career-high 18 points that night. .
The loss drops the Trojans to 4-11 (Blue Chip Conference 1-4) in the season ahead of Thursday’s Blue Chip Conference home game against the Vincennes Rivet Patriots.
