Salt Lake City, Utah (ABC4) – Salt Lake City Police Department A 31-year-old man said he was in stable but critical condition after being hit by a jeep while crossing a road on Sunday night.
Police said the incident occurred near 700 South State Street just before midnight on January 15. Based on a preliminary investigation, officers believe the 2019 Jeep Grand his Cherokee struck the man as he drove up State Street. Officers said the man had crossed the street, ignoring a “no crossing” sign, and was wearing a black suit.
gold cross ambulance and the Salt Lake City Fire Department Paramedics took the man to hospital in critical condition. SLCPD said the man was still in critical condition as of Monday morning at his last check-up, but is now stable.
Officers said the jeep driver remained at the scene and called 911 after the incident and was cooperative. Police do not believe speed, obstacles, or driver distraction contributed to the accident. No arrests or citations were reportedly made.
As a result of the accident, police are encouraging drivers to “regularly scan their vision while driving.”
“This involves physically moving your head to scan the road, including intersections and other road users,” the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a statement.
