Shocking moment racer tries to outrun police by hurtling down pavement

The video is A gruesome moment when a racer being chased by police drives along the pavement in a small gap between a line of parked cars and a brick wall.

A small hatchback is seen striped along the sidewalk, sounding multiple car alarms as it scrapes past rows of parked cars.

He may have given the officer a slip, but when he got to the street corner he found another hatchback partially parked on the side of the curb, preventing him from escaping.

The fleeing driver is seen diverting parked vehicles, severely damaging both the car and his own.

The two cars were wedged together and the fugitive jumped out and tried to flee on foot.

Seconds later, however, he was caught in a furious chase by a police car around the corner.

This stunning footage was filmed around 4pm on Sunday at the corner of Heath Terrace and Gladstone Street in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

You can hear the hum in the background, but you can’t hear people talking over the car alarms and police sirens.

West Yorkshire Police said: “A 24-year-old man has been charged with failing to stop for police and driving without a license.

“He has been released on bail to appear before the Bradford Magistrates on 8 March.”
