Update (January 10, 2023) — New York State Police have identified the victim of the fatal crash as 52-year-old Greg Hixenbaugh from Churchville.
The trooper said he died when his vehicle struck an abutment on Route 104 and Five Mile Line Road.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — New York State Police released details of a fatal crash on Route 104 East in Webster Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., state troopers parked along Route 104 saw the 2020 Jeep Renegade speeding along Route 104 East in Webster, police said.
Officers tried to pull the vehicle over when the Jeep veered off the road’s south shoulder and hit a bridge on Five Mile Line Road, the NYSP said.
The car then overturned and burst into flames. Officers were able to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher, according to the NYSP.
The vehicle’s only occupant, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding the driver’s name until the family can be notified.
At approximately 6:30 PM, all lanes will reopen on Route 104 East on Five Mile Line Road.
The NYSP said the investigation would continue under the NYSP Criminal Investigation Division. The Attorney General’s Office is also said to have responded to the scene.
