The Tokyo Auto Salon is no ordinary auto show. Automakers are no stranger to bringing the same kind of concept you see in Detroit or New York, but the modified cars and the aftermarket parts they carry are the true stars. brought and driven through a whole range of awesome cars including new models, concept parts and lots of motorsport goodies.
Front and center at Subaru’s Auto Salon display is the revamped next-generation Impreza hatchback that debuted in Los Angeles in November. Subaru not only rolled out the same bone stock car from LA, but also fitted this Impreza for the Japanese market with several STI accessories under development.
Details are unknown and we’re waiting for Subaru to provide a more comprehensive list. But perhaps the coolest part of the whole concept is in the rear, where a pair of centrally mounted exhaust pipes hang.
Adding to the forbidden fruit vibe is the Levorg STI Sport Prototype. This is a limited production hop-up wagon and a significant upgrade to the Levorg STI Sport R EX on which it is based. This sharp little long roof is fitted with a transmission oil cooler, flexible draw stiffeners, other chassis braces, 19″ BBS wheels and Recaro front bucket seats.
If beefcake off-road aesthetics are more your thing, check out the Boost Gear concept. Basically, Subaru took the subcompact Rex (below) and the larger Crosstrek, and fitted both vehicles with all sorts of rough-hewn bits, including chunkier all-terrain tires and larger mudguards. In Subaru’s own words, these parts “inspire a more active and positive sense of adventure,” a line you’ll find even on the package of pills you buy at Truck Stop.
There’s also a little something here for motorsports geeks. Subaru’s Tokyo Auto Salon booth will also host the WRX Rally Challenge 2023, which is set to tackle Japanese rallies later this year. can see.
