Terryville man killed in Route 8 crash in Watertown

WATERTOWN — A Litchfield County man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon after his Jeep overturned on U.S. Route 8, state police said.

The man was identified as John Wuzik, 50, of Terryville, Connecticut police said. He was pronounced dead at Waterbury Hospital, state police said.

Wujcik was driving south on Route 8 three-tenths of a mile (about one-tenth of a mile) from the Exit 38 ramp at 12:59 p.m. Monday, according to the state. A 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S went off the road and crashed into a rocky embankment. police. According to State Police, it rolled to the left before coming to a stop.

Uichik was seriously injured in the crash, state police said. He was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Waterbury Hospital.

The Jeep was immobilized by severe damage, state police said. It was towed from the scene for further investigation.
