Toyota Kirloskar Motor has reportedly announced a recall of around 1,400 vehicles in India. Recalled units such as the Glanza hatchback and Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV are reported to have defective airbag controllers. According to Mint’s report, these models were manufactured between December 8th and he January 12th of last year.
Toyota guarantees that airbag controller malfunctions will be resolved soon. The automaker says it will replace defective airbag controllers in both the Granza and Urban Cruiser his Highrider. We advise owners of these units to contact their respective dealer where the defect will be resolved free of charge to the owner.
The recall from Toyota comes days after Maruti Suzuki issued a recall of several models for similar technical issues. Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of his 17,362 units. This included models such as the Toyota Granza and Urban Cruiser Highrider’s technical cousin the Baleno and the Grand His Vitara. Other recalled multi-models included the Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco and Brezza. All units of these multi-models were manufactured between December 8th and he January 12th last year.
The new-generation Baleno and Granza were launched by their respective automakers last year. Both models come in an ICE version and his CNG version. The Granza was Toyota’s best-selling model last year.
The Urban Cruiser High Rider and Grand Vitara are the first compact SUVs launched in India with hybrid technology by the automaker.
