For the past six years, NADA has held a “Woman Driving a Car Sales” video contest. Women in auto retail can send short videos talking about themselves, their career beginnings, their responsibilities, and what they love about their jobs. The goal is to celebrate women in the industry and hire more women.
Walser Automotive Group, which has dealerships in Minnesota, Illinois, and Kansas, created a powerful video this year titled “The Time is Now.” It features women across the dealership group talking about how and why they never thought they would work in the auto business.
Women will outline why this industry is the best place for women to work (career opportunities and growth, ways to raise a family) and the skills women bring (new perspectives, relationship building, diversity). The video ends with a call to make changes now.
“Walser’s 2023 proposal is not a declaration of why women (or men) should one day work in the automotive industry,” said Dayna Kleve, Director of Diversity, Engagement & Foundation at Walser Automotive Group. I wrote in a post on LinkedIn. “This is the roadmap for changing the story of today’s young girls and women. The time to bring them in is early. It is often. The time is now.”
