SHANGHAI — China’s Xpeng has announced that it has appointed Wang Fengying, former vice chairman of Great Wall Motors, as president of its electric vehicle startup.
In her new role, Wang will be responsible for Xpeng’s product planning, product portfolio management and sales operations, Xpeng said in a statement.
She will report to the company’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng.
Wang, 52, has worked for Baoding, Hebei-based Great Wall Motor for more than 30 years and is one of the few experienced female leaders in China’s auto industry.
She has also served as a deputy to the National People’s Congress since 2008, and has made policy proposals to the central government to improve China’s auto industry, such as encouraging the development of auto chips and optimizing the use of factory capacity. often submitted.
Wang joins Xpeng at a time when the EV sector is facing increased competition and price war tensions after Tesla sharply slashed the prices of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles earlier this month. .
